Keep daily P.E. classes at Broadus Wood Elementary School

Broadus Wood Elementary School has had daily Physical Education classes for many years. In many parents’ opinions, this makes Broadus Wood one of the best elementary schools in Albemarle County. However, it has come to our attention that there is a plan to reduce P.E. at Broadus Wood to four days a week during the 2015-16 academic year.

Studies show that only about one third of children receive the recommended amount of physical activity and P.E. is one of the best opportunities to incorporate physical activity into a child’s day. It has been scientifically proven that physical activity promotes academic success and improves students’ behavior and focus during academic work.

Cutting physical education has been a recent troubling trend in public school systems. Let’s not make the same mistake. Let’s support out children’s health and boost their academic achievements through daily P.E. classes.
