My friend, Mr. Barry Gray-Couch, was recently removed from his PhD program in counseling psychology at the University of Kentucky for insufficient reason, in violation of Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) rules, without due process, and just at the moment when he was within reach of obtaining his PhD.  This is a personal tragedy for Barry, who has spent years working on his PhD through serious health problems. Barry is an outstanding therapist whose advice on cases is sought by more senior therapists.  Society should not lose such an excellent professional.

From outside the department, it is difficult to tell how one person who was neither his advisor nor the department chair managed to remove Barry from the program.  We ask here that Barry be reinstated and given a reasonable amount of time to complete his dissertation.
