Over the past few days, the Cherry Hill community is learning more and more about a disheartening decision from the school district that put an end to all elementary school evening music concerts. These concerts offered parents, extended family, and friends to see their children accomplish a great task involving hard work, commitment, and the courage to present in front of others. It is a great moment of pride for both the parents and the children. It encourages family engagement in the schools. It encourages art in the schools, which has been proven over and over as a contributor to a better education. Yet, a dispute between the district and the district's elementary school music teachers has taken this opportunity away from us without discussion with the parents nor with the consent of our elected representatives on the Board of Education. Please join together in signing this petition, encouraging the reinstatement of the Cherry Hill elementary school evening music concerts. Please also e-mail or call all involved decision makers to include the district superintendent, his administration, the teacher union president, the elementary school principals and music teachers, and the Board of Education.
