After four months of hearings, meetings, and written decisions, SBISD has ended the formal process associated with this petition. It has made its position abundantly clear. The district – under the leadership of the board of trustees and Superintendent Blaine – is committed to promoting age-inappropriate transgenderism, sexual content, and toxic ideologies to young students. And it will use bureaucracy, sophistry, and semantic games to impede parents who challenge such practices.
Many SBISD parents struggle to believe this to be true. But it is true. See this list of specific examples and evidence.
To SBISD parents who readily grasp the gravity of this scandal: do not despair. We still have recourse.
The most important step of action is to vote in the SBISD Board of Trustees elections on May 7 (early voting begins on April 25). These candidates can be trusted to restore common-sense governance of our district:
· Lisa Alpe (Position 5)
· John Perez (Position 6)
· Caroline H. Bennett (Position 7)
To those who wish to go further than voting: tell your neighbors about the reality of the situation. Meet with principals and teachers to understand their policies on age-appropriateness. Ask for greater transparency and accountability. You have a right to do so. This is public education.
Refrain from viewing this issue through the tired lens of tribal politics. This transcends political ideology. It is about common sense – and how to restore it.
Please do your part. Show courage in a society defined by cowardice. And help protect the innocence of young children in your community.
