While we recognize the need for transmission upgrades, they need to be planned and sited in a manner that represents the most effective solution with the least potential impact to private landowners and the environment.

As we work toward a sustainable future, it is critical that we not make the same mistakes we have in the past. The federal government must respect the rights of states and individuals by encouraging a brighter, greener future without allowing or contributing to corporate infringements on those rights.

Abuse of eminent domain has become rampant in recent years. Allowing a private developer to utilize the authority of federal eminent domain against private landowners for its own private gain is contrary to the founding principles of our country and could set the precedent for further abuse.
