This petition follows on the heels of the awe-inspiring “Save Mr. Clement” campaign started by Minuteman students. By signing this new petition, THE MINUTEMAN COMMUNITY IS CALLING FOR SUPERINTENDENT KATHLEEN DAWSON TO RESIGN OR FOR THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE TO REMOVE DR. DAWSON FROM THIS POSITION. Much more is now known about the circumstances that led to Superintendent Dawson’s decision not to renew Principal George Clement’s contract. Please read Principal Clement’s email to the School Committee after he was informed of his dismissal.

In addition to Principal Clement, four other key administrators – the Assistant Superintendent Director of Operations and Facilities, the Facilities and Business Coordinator, the Communications Director, and the Information Technology Director have all resigned. On May 1st the Minuteman Teachers’ Union returned a 100% Vote of No Confidence in the Superintendent, which demonstrates Dr. Dawson’s failure, inability and/or refusal to inspire trust in the Minuteman faculty or to develop viable working relationships with the people she is supposed to lead.

By signing this petition, members of the Minuteman community from its nine sister towns – Acton, Arlington, Bolton, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Needham and Stow – call on the School Committee to concede that Dr. Kathleen Dawson MUST GO now and that PROVEN LEADERSHIP like that of Principal George Clement must be restored! The potential damage to Minuteman’s reputation from TWO MORE YEARS of gutted leadership and low teacher morale far outweighs any financial cost of terminating Dr. Dawson’s contract early.
