There is a proposal, which is being considered by the Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt, to enforce compulsory height and weight checks for primary school aged children. This will have immediate and long term negative effects on children's resilience, well-being, and self-esteem, and subject even more children to bullying. Instead, the government should make fresh foods more affordable, and give preference to programs that teach time poor adults how to prepare quick and nutritious foods, as well as incorporating exercise into everyday routines.
