First, a disclaimer: I understand that Riverston was originally rezoned to Elkins HS because there are, indeed, people who benefit. However, I would have to disagree that Avalon at Riverstone receives the same advantages.

I know I’m speaking for many families when I say that we bought our house specifically because of its schooling benefits. My family’s house, for one, cost a lot more money than it is worth simply because it was originally zoned to Clements instead of Elkins. Now, however, we are still paying for an overly expensive house, but we no longer receive the advantage of going to the best high school in Fort Bend ISD.

There were rallies in which students and parents alike have protested for this area to be rezoned to Elkins, but FBISD did not listen and rezoned the neighborhoods anyway.

To my knowledge, the main reason why we were rezoned was to stop overcrowding, However, that has not succeeded. Clements and Elkins still remain overcrowded. And, by rezoning us, the Elkins population will only grow. Therefore, to reverse any damage that might have been caused because of the Elkins rezoning, I strongly urge you to sign this petition to help students living in this neighborhood to get the education they paid and worked for.
