Save the Badgers

Save the Badgers
The Issue
Tens and thousands of badgers are killed in the U.K. In 2020 the cull took the lives of 39,000 innocent badgers. Instead of stopping the inhumane badger cull, the U.K Government expanded the hunting grounds to 11 new regions. The reason for the killings is Bovine Tuberculosis or TB. Badgers can sometimes carry Bovine Tuberculosis that could potentially harm cattle used for human consumption. There are multiple studies that show that the overall rate of badgers carrying Bovine TB is only 1%.
Infected cows are more likely to spread TB through other herds of cattle than wild roaming badgers. Conservationists have found that these mass killings of badgers have made no meaningful contribution to cattle TB control in Britain. It is said that the killings have escalated to such a height that they are facing local extinction in areas they’ve inhabited since the Ice Age. Vaccinations have been proven to successfully lead to disease-free areas, and they give the badgers themselves higher protection.
