WE DEMAND THAT MIDWIFE GAYE DEMANUELE IS PROSECUTED FOR THE DEATH OF CAROLINE LOVELL.

(The following information sourced from the Coronial Findings 24 March 2016)

My daughter, Caroline Lovell, died in an horrific homebirth in January 2012.  She was left to bleed out into a pool of water for one hour after giving birth. In that time, her chief midwife Gaye Demanuele, was not checking her, or the state of the water.  Caroline then lost consciousness, but Demanuele didn't see that as cause for concern and even when Caroline told her she was dying and begged to be taken to hospital, Demanuele did nothing, except to give her a paper bag to breathe into. My daughter was denied basic medical care in an emergency. Her midwife did not respond to her emergency. After some delay, Demanuele finally decided to call an ambulance, but she misled the paramedics, telling them Caroline's heart had given out. So, the paramedics worked for over one hour trying to get my daughter's heart to start instead of giving her a blood transfusion, which could have saved her life. Then, as my precious daughter lay in the hospital Intensive Care Unit with tubes in every orifice and on life support, Demanuele returned to the scene to empty the pool (evidence) and clean up after herself.

That is how my daughter died, and that is how my granddaughters lost their mother.

No-one should ever have to die that way.

On 24 March 2016, the Coroner found that my daughter's death was preventable and that Gaye Demanuele, caused or significantly contributed to her death. The Coroner recommended that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) investigate Demanuele for criminal charges.

Gaye Demanuele has been found responsible for my daughter's death, but she has been living freely for the past five years. Demanuele told the Coroner in court that she is still attending births as some kind of birth attendant (not midwife, as she tore up her Registration after my daughter's death). She dismisses her own culpability and her supporters claim that she has done nothing wrong!

Meanwhile, my granddaughters are growing up without their mother, and I have lost my only child. Gaye Demanuele must be held accountable for the death of my daughter.
