City Council Candidate Breakdowns!

The DLP's City Council Candidate Breakdown! ‪#‎DowntownLivonia‬ Brandon Kritzman reached out to us in the very beginning and has been there by our sides helping, however possible. He is a true visionary, experienced city official, passionate Livonia resident and our obvious choice for City Council. Brett Gierak has a vision that includes the elimination of blight in Livonia, the very concern that led us to creating the Downtown Livonia Partnership. Despite having more endorsements than any other candidate, he is humble and we find that refreshing. We believe he will bring a highly collaborative, sincere, fresh perspective. We’d love to see Brett on the Council. Cathy White is genuine, open-minded, highly collaborative and has a deep knowledge of the inner workings of the city. She is a creative thinker and we particularly enjoy her “Open Street” and entrepreneur recruitment ideas for the city. We’ve also heard that several people are very much looking forward to working with her, and we thoroughly agree! Jim Jolly is courageous, proactive and we know he has the people of Livonia's’ best interest at heart. He was involved in city talks about a downtown Livonia several years ago and we find his ideas for neighborhood seed grants worthy of more discussion. Jim would like to see more of a connection between the citizens and the city, and we couldn’t agree more! Kathleen McIntyre is another knowledgeable and experienced candidate. She is honest, upfront, and has endless relationships that cross party lines, which shows us she will be a wonderful addition. She supports our ideas for redeveloping vacant areas, and will definitely be there to help us along the way. Steve King is passionate, honest, and not easily discouraged. He’s been involved in conversations with the city about a Downtown Livonia for many years. He has several creative ideas and we believe he will challenge other city officials to think outside the box. Although, we would’ve liked to see him do more with his campaign, and the lack of fundraising has caused some to wonder if he has the drive needed to win a seat. Ken Crider genuinely surprised us (an unfortunate social media comment made us a bit nervous)! He welcomed us into his home and we had a wonderful time getting to know him. He has several amazing ideas that we would love to be a part of, and he also has over 20 years of experience in retail development, we could greatly benefit from his insight. No matter what happens Tuesday, we thoroughly look forward to working with him in the future. Scott Bahr is incredibly intelligent, articulate and knowledgeable about city workings. We feel he could do a wonderful job, although, we couldn’t overlook a comment made in our video interview about how people “want big box” stores. Our research shows (and residents feel) the very opposite, another "big box" store is the last thing we need. I’m sure we can overcome this little hurdle, and look forward to working with him in the future.
