Change the Management of Livermore's Farmers Market

The Issue

On Sunday, June 7th, at the Livermore Farmers Market, Amy Pannu, the Livermore Pride Executive Director was handing out Pride flags with Dan Floyd the local business owner of Dan Good Cookies, as they have in past years. During this time, they were approached and verbally attacked by Gail Hayden, director of California Farmers Market Association (CFMA) which Livermore had just recently appointed as the new farmers market managing company.

Because of Gail's hostility towards Dan as captured on video, We as Livermorians do not support CFMA as the managing company of our farmer's market. The title that Gail Hayden is referring to is CFMA’s Rules and Regulations, Section XVI, General Rules (f) and it only states “Petitions and flyer distributions are prohibited inside the market.” The Pride flags being distributed by Amy Pannu and Dan are neither a petition nor a flyer.

Livermore believes in the importance of supporting local farmers and respecting the LQBTQ+ community and because of this we demand a change in our markets management.
