The Attorney General's Office is ignoring repeated requests for information concerning the status of James "Troy" Durham, a former Deputy Sheriff of Somerset County. The Attorney General's Office has lost two cases, one in Federal Court and one in Maryland's appellate court, regarding Mr. Durham's illegal termination by Somerset County Sheriff Robert N. Jones. Despite a Federal jury's verdict and finding that Sheriff Jones exercised reckless disregard of Mr. Durham's constitutional rights to free speech, Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler continues to spend financial resources of the State of Maryland on the defense of a County Sheriff. Douglas Gansler refuses to answer basic questions that have been put to him concerning the reinstatement and recertification of Mr. Durham, following Mr. Durham's repeated legal victories against his office.
