County Spending $50,000 to Pomote Connect Douglas

This is one of the items on today's work session agenda and will more than likely be on tomorrow's BOC Meeting Agenda--marketing the bus transit system. $50,000 was put into the budget for 2018 to market it. The BOC Meeting is Tuesday at 10AM and Public Comment is accepted. GO RAISE YOUR VOICES! BRANDING/MARKETING PROPOSAL DOUGLAS COUNTY MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICES 1. Douglas County is proposing a comprehensive branding/marketing campaign for all current and future mobility services and programs managed by the Multi-Modal Transportation Services Division of the Douglas County Department of Transportation. 2. The campaign will be built around the planned fixed route bus service, the commuter vanpool program, Voucher Program for senior adults and disabled individuals and any future programs and services. The name “Douglas County Rideshare” that has been in use since 1986 will be retired and replaced with a new name that better reflects the variety of mobility services that are offered. The emphasis will be establishing a brand to help launch the new fixed route bus service. 3.The new name and identifier is Connect Douglas. 4. Multi-Modal proposes contracting with a consultant who will work with Multi-Modal staff, the county’s Communication Department, the county’s External Affairs office and others to develop materials for the campaign. 5. At a minimum, the Scope of Work for the consultant will include:  Developing a Connect Douglas logo and other graphics Creating tag lines, catch phrases and other attention-getting verbiage  Designing wraps for buses and vans and logos for staff vehicles Designing brochures, schedules and other informational materials Designing letterheads, business cards and other staff-related materials Assisting with webpage content and design 6. The consultant’s task will be to work with Douglas County staff to create the ConnectDouglas brand. Once the brand is created, Douglas County will assume the responsibility of building an inventory of the material and assimilating it to the public, media outlets and community organizations. 7.Douglas County is soliciting Requests for Qualifications from consultants to direct the development of the branding/marketing materials. From the proposals that are submitted, Douglas County will select one consultant with which to negotiate a contract for the branding/marketing work. The proposed contract will go before the Douglas County Board of Commissioners for approval in the first quarter of Calendar Year 2018. The completion date will be negotiated between Douglas County and the chosen consultant. 8. Qualifications are due ?????????
