Hi, everyone. First, let me thank you for taking your time to read this. I’ll try and keep this short so not to use too much of your time.
Some of you may know me, some may not. I am chronically ill. Sadly, that means that my illnesses have no cure, and the only thing we can due is to try and manage my issues with medications and other medical interventions to try and give me a good quality of life.
Now, due to those disabilities I have a Cardiac Alert Service Dog. She’s been trained to assist me with many medical alerts and other things, but cardiac alert is her primary reason.
I try my hardest to spread awareness for service dogs and disabilities. And unfortunately, the fake service dog trend is growing at an outstanding rate. Many people don’t realize this is illegal. Or realize the danger they put others in.
I’m sure we’ve all seen the news of children getting bit in the face by a “service dog”.
This is not just my health & safety, or that of my service dog anymore. This is a public safety issue.
I’m terrified my service will be attacked and killed by an aggressive pet in public. Because legitimate service animals have already been killed. And many have been attacked. And it’s just going to get worse.
Service animals are trained for hundreds of hours to accept a child running up pulling their tail or grabbing their face. To be passive even when stepped on and not react. To see another dog and not bark or pull, but to remain calm with their handler.
On behalf of the entire service dog community, we are trying to stop this. It’s endangering everyone.
No more lives should be lost.

I’ve sent an email to the president, hoping we can make a change on a federal level. I’ve contacted news stations. Now we wait and see. But in the mean time, we can still try to make smaller changes.
If we could simply make it a federal crime to fake a service animal that would change so much.
This is a public safety issue and it affects everyone.
Don’t stop now! Keep sharing! Keep making videos! Keep talking about it on social media and I promise you all, WE WILL BE HEARD.
