On August 13th York announced that students will be required to be vaccinated and show proof of their vaccination status in order to be on campus. We believe that students have the right to give their voluntary informed consent to any medical treatment. Mandatory vaccination for everyone regardless of their risk factors, age, prior infections is unscientific and unconstitutional. We are not anti-vaccination or covid deniers but on the other hand, mandating vaccines indiscriminately makes no sense since young people are more likely to die or be seriously sick from influenza rather than covid and we already know that fully vaccinated individuals can spread covid just as frequently as unvaccinated individuals.  The majority of Canadian provinces, US states, and European nations have not come up with a vaccine mandate policy. We believe that this vaccination policy introduced by York University is a violation of the rights to freedom of conscience and belief, mobility, and life, liberty, and security of the person under the Charter
