After almost three years of a Ford Government, it's pretty clear:  The PCs are not planning to keep its pre-election commitments concerning newly built homes. Frankly - and we are very sorry to have to say this - all consumers have seen from the Ford Government related to newly built homes are a few crumbs. Obviously, we would love it if suddenly the Ford Government started to take much needed action, but we are not holding our breath.

#1 Basic definitions needed (hard to believe, we know)

#2 Administrative authority issues - no transparency on millions of dollars annually since 2009

#3 Lack of enforcement of the Ontario Building Code during construction - ongoing serious health and safety issues 

#4 New building industry regulator, HCRA, is off to a very poor start - where did those millions of start-up dollars go?

#5 Used/damaged furnaces in newly built homes - including a legal opinion that says builders are operating illegally

#6 Ending Tarion's monopoly - Tarion is obviously beyond repair

#7 The LAT: "The place that fairness forgot"

#8 Legislation for private home inspections - gathering dust

When you stand back and look at all of these issues collectively, there are two clear messages:

- #BuyerBeware

- There's a lot of work required in Ontario to adequately protect Ontario's purchasers of newly built homes.
