Homeowners and consumer advocates have been calling for an end to Tarion's monopoly for decades now. Justice Cunningham called for an end to Tarion's monopoly in 2016.

Yesterday brought a new and powerful voice to the conversation: A long time Tarion director (retired in 2017) David Roberts agrees that Tarion's monopoly must end. He provided related testimony to Ontario's Standing Committee on Justice Policy in Ottawa yesterday.
