We don't understand why the Ford Government is refusing to provide basic information.
In the Mar. 7, 2019 consumer consultations held by the Ministry of Gov't and Consumer Services, we asked which of Justice Cunningham's 37 recommendations have been accepted. Ministry staff refused to answer. So, we turned to a chart with the four broad categories in Justice Cunningham's report. Again MGCS staff refused to answer, but it appears that the Ford Government has so far not committed to anything beyond what the Wynne government committed to do, i.e., separating the warranty provider from the regulator role.
MPP Piccini, who before the Feb. 20 Ford Government announcements told us he would provide this information re the 37 recommendations is now refusing to provide this information as well.
But before the election the PC Gov't supported many of Justice Cunningham's recommendations.
Ontario taxpayers paid almost a million dollars for Justice Cunningham's Tarion Review.
Ontarians need - and deserve - better.
