Petition updateEnd Tarion’s new home warranty monopoly NOW: Give Ontarians a choice!More Good News: Ford Gov't plans to address DAA model problems (hint Tarion is a DAA)

Concerns have been raised for decades about serious problems with Ontario's Delegated Administrative Authority (DAA) model. One of the key issues is the potential for conflict of interest. Tarion is a DAA. Although Tarion is supposed to be consumer protection, the Tarion board of directors continues to be dominated by builders. Clearly this is a conflict of interest. CPBH's view is that there should be NO builders on the Tarion board -- builders can provide their advice to the Tarion board via an Advisory Council. Fortunately, MPP Jim McDonell has been trying to address the serious issues with Ontario's DAA model for some time now. A June 19, 2018 e-mail that CPBH received from MPP McDonell confirms that the Ford Government plans to address these issues with the DAA model. We look forward to see what new legislation the Ford Government will bring forward and how this will impact Tarion and all other Ontario DAAs!
