Yesterday MPP Jim McDonell sent a letter to Minister Lalonde raising concerns about Tarion's performance as the Industry Regulator AND as the Warranty Provider in relation to Urbancorp. He called on Minister Lalonde to explore "all options available...to make Urbancorp's clients whole." He also said that the "Ministry should work more closely with Tarion to ensure bad players in industry can be weeded out out early, minimizing the risk of bankrupties.." (Tarion has paid the Government of Ontario more than $1.5 million in "oversight fees" since 2009, but we are not sure what these oversight fees are being used for.)
