Convince the Ontario government to not scrap the high speed rail plan

Convince the Ontario government to not scrap the high speed rail plan
The Issue
What is this about?
This April, Queens Park(Ontario’s provincial government) suspended the High-speed rail plan put in place by the previous Liberal government. This plan would link the cities of London and Toronto providing faster transit times for students, workers, and normal citizens.
Why should you care?
Currently, Canada is the only G7 nation without a high-speed rail system in place, and with climate change becoming more and more of an issue, we need to reduce our reliance on cars. High-speed rail has proven itself to be the safest and most environmentally friendly option when it comes to mass transit. This can be proven with many outstanding high-speed rail projects around the world, such as Japan's high-speed rail network which has had 0 fatal accidents in its 50 years of running. If you live in Ontario or Canada you should really take the time to look into this issue as this is something that will greatly benefit the province and will prove that we can implement HSR systems across Canada, by doing this we will be able to cut down on the number of cars on the road and be able to lower our nation's GHG emissions.
A few facts about HSR(High-speed rail)
- Canada is currently the only G7 nation without a current or planned HSR line.
- Top speed for HSR trains in operation is around 310-350kmh( 190-220mph)
- On the Eurostar train between London and Paris, GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions are 90% lower than flying between those 2 cities.
- Railways have a typical capacity that is 13% greater than that of a 6-lane highway, however, they only require 40% of the land that 6-lane highways do.
- HSR works best on journeys between 150-900km(93-559 miles), London to Toronto is a journey of 200km. At these distances, HSR beats car and air travel time.
