Doug Carter to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom for Delphi investigation
The Issue
I would like to partition for Superintendent Douglas G. Carter to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom for his tireless and steadfast work on the Delphi murder investigation, nearing it's conclusion he has worked hard and with passion, empathy and strong leadership. This award is bestowed to recognize people whom contribute "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."
Indiana State Police Supt. Doug Carter, a Cicero resident, grew up with a state trooper for a father. Carter’s father also taught him to fight cynicism — an occupational hazard — for as long as he could. He said both of his parents taught him the value of service before self which is exhibits tremendously.
After a 40-year career in law enforcement, Carter is nearing his retirement and leaves a legacy that should be honored in the highest possible way.
