The city mayor and council members have abruptly halted all music program classes without notice. They are ruthlessly trying to vote the San Antonio Parks and Recreation music program out of the city budget on 09-15-2011, by restructuring the program with contract labor, to make room for programs they deem worthy.

The city music programs have been offering saxophone, keyboard, percussion, hand percussion, recorder and guitar lessons for over 6 years and have a city youth band called Take Note. These classes are offered to anyone in the community at affordable rates and provide the opportunity for aspiring musicians of all ages to learn a musical instrument. People of all ages, races and religions join and play music together with a true community spirit.

Classes that were scheduled to resume 08-22-2011 have been cancelled without notice and without notifying students because of city politics and budget restructuring. Now, new and long term students are left hanging with no place to go. Please tell Mayor Castro and the City Council "Don't Stop the Music".
