The new housing policy of a lottery system completely undermines upper classmen. UT doesn't problem solve or invest wisely, and instead of doing so - they want to undermine their upper class students' money, time, and work at UT. Parking and housing is already extremely problematic. Instead of not accepting too many freshman, without new dorms, they want to do a lottery system. Therefore, forcing already established students out of upper classmen halls or off campus all together. Upcoming juniors and seniors had to wait years to be on campus in general let alone to be in an apartment style dorm for example. Freshman year, for seniors, was cut off. For upcoming juniors and seniors last year was online but paid full tuition. This year has been a mess for everyone. Now for our junior or senior year we don't even get guaranteed housing? People rely on university housing. Off campus housing is full and difficult to get into if you can afford it, which is problematic as is with pricing. This petition is to display our distaste in this change in policy, and a call to return to the previous methodology for room selection and room selection eligibility.
