On the 24/11/2021, the officials of Dondaicha Warwade Nagarparishad along with the road construction contractor have inhumanely killed one very old (nearly 70-80 years old) Banyan Tree on the banks of Bhogawati river, near Shri Gopalkrushna Mandir, Gopalpura without any permissions. The tree had a very significance with the culture and traditions of the locality, also it had always been the identity of the area.
The importance of the trees from the environmental point of view was also great. That tree alone has sequestrated 2.8 ton of carbon till its lifetime. No artificial methods can do such great work.
There is a need to take action on such Tree Murders happening by the local authorities in the District especially in Dondaicha.
