Jeffrey Bolger, a police officer for Baltimore City slit the throat of dog that was under restraint. This dog (Nala) was an innocent animal that escaped from her home accidentally and was then captured with the use of a dog pole after she had became scared and nipped at someone who was trying to read her tags. Nala was restrained and not posing a threat to anyone when Jeffrey Bolger stated “I am going to gut this [expletive] thing.” He then used a knife to slit Nala's throat resulting in her death. Police are there to protect us, prevent crime, and most important abide by the laws they expect us to abide by, including animal cruelty. What Jeffrey Bolger did was not out of fear, was not to protect himself or others, it was intentional and pure cruelty. I am writing this petition in hopes that an example will be made out of Jeffrey Bolger, that animal cruelty will not be tolerated! Especially from our law enforcement. This petition is our time to speak our mind! I would like the Baltimore City Police Department to donate Jeffrey Bolgers pension to BARCS, a shelter in Baltimore in honor of Nala. Too many cases involving animal cruelty result in only fines and probation, and are simply not taken seriously and we need to enforce a change! I can guarantee that if a judges, mayors, or law enforcements animal was a victim of a cruel act that defendant would be prosecuted to the fullest extent and that needs to be the case for all cases. Please share so we can get as many signatures as possible and serve justice for Nala.
