When Khizr and Ghazala Khan stood before the DNC and declared that Donald Trump's call for a Muslim ban was unconstitutional, un-American, and immoral, they spoke a profound truth. Though the venue they chose to do it in was partisan, the message they broadcast was universal and unquestionable, and their authority to deliver it as the parents of a fallen American hero is unimpeachable. They have since come under attack from all parts of the political spectrum, being accused of offenses ranging from crass electioneering to serving as enemy agents. The Khans are exceptionally well-educated and intelligent people. They knew the risks they were taking in standing up to be heard. Such an act took incredible courage and integrity. We the undersigned would like to thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Khan, for having the bravery to speak up for the values that we all hold so dear.
