Stop the spread of COVID-19: Save lives of restaurant workers, families and communities

The Issue

The CEOs of America's top food chains went on a conference call with President Donald Trump and convinced him that it was more important for them to keep their businesses open for the public so they can profit while their employees along with their families and guests are put at-risk of contracting COVID-19 potentially resulting in death.

COVID-19 is very real and is only beginning to take its toll on American lives.  The biggest danger is that those who have contracted the virus may not know for up to two weeks as they go infecting other populations and bring it home to their families.  Exponentially worse than this is that many of these establishments have a minimum of 100 at-risk guests coming through their drive-thru every day.

All non-essential businesses have been closed in many states but fast food and other restaurants continue to remain open while they are potentially the biggest link that we all share.  Many people will go get their daily coffee or sandwich but not many people go to the hair salon every day which have already been closed in many states.

I admit, taking this step will add more impact to the disruption of the daily routine but in this time of crisis those are exactly the sacrifices we need! Taking 1 trip to the grocery store per week is much less impactful than multiple trips to a restaurant where face-to-face interactions take place and get brought home to our loved ones.

Please add representation behind our voice and not let the CEOs be the only ones to speak for the lives of our friends, families and communities.  Thank you!
