Save Children: Scrap the 'Zero Tolerance' Immigration Policy at US-Mexico Border

Nobody wants to leave their home or their country until and unless, the home becomes the mouth of a Shark - Warsan Shire

The underlying idea behind these lines are that why would anybody cross the border knowing that they will be jailed on the other side of the border and will be separated from their children until and unless the situation back home is life threatening or even worse.

The refugee crisis across the globe be it the 5.6 million Syrians who left their country to seek refuge or over 10,00,000 Rohingya refugees and many such refugee emergencies warrant special human rights considerations and not inhumane and insensitive treatment and sanctions like Mr. Donald Trump's 'Zero Tolerance' immigration policy at the US-Mexico border.

In the last six weeks, US President, Donald Trump's 'Zero Tolerance' immigration policy at the US-Mexico Border has left over 2000 children separated from their families with their parents being imprisoned/Jailed for criminal conduct of illegally crossing the border. This will scar these children for life and they need to be protected and united with their parents. Trump's 'Zero Tolerance' immigration policy is not acceptable and needs to be scrapped immediately.

Nation states need to be more humane in their approach while dealing with Refugees and immigrants and even the first lady of the United States, Ms. Meliana Trump has advised that the "United States should govern with heart" on the issue of 'Zero Tolerance' immigration policy and so Mr. Trump does not need to look much far as he has found some healthy advise in the family itself.

I urge the President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, Unites States House of Representatives, United Sates Senate and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Filippo Grandi to immediately intervene and scrap the 'Zero-Tolerance' immigration Policy at the US-Mexico border.
