Pass legislation to require people who receive government assistance and are over the age of 21 and under the age of 60 and work less than 30 hours a week to volunteer 7 hours a week.
The Issue
PETITION BACKGROUND (PREAMBLE)
There are many government assistance programs available in America. There are approximately 22.4 million unemployed people in America, whom are supposedly actively seeking employment. Another 9.2 million Americans receive some form of government assistance because of their status as unemployed or other reasons inclusive of low income from employment that is not full time. The total number of Americans receiving government assistance is greater than 31.6 million, which does NOT include Social Security or other senior citizen benefits.
Many “Welfare” mothers and fathers maximize the benefits they receive. This works out for them to be receiving:
- Section 8 Housing to live rent and mortgage free and to not have to pay home owners insurance
- Welfare for living expenses and luxuries
- Medicaid for all medical and dental needs
- Food Stamps for food, candy, and a wide list of other items at a supermarket
- Public School to take care of their children for at least 6 hours a day, and many also using the after school care system for total of 8 hours of care or longer each day
- A free breakfast (standard at most public schools), free lunch, and free after school snack for all their children, which greatly minimizes the need to purchase food for the household and allows food stamps to often be traded for other non-food commodities
- Additional income through SSI if they claim they tripped at a supermarket and have a permanent injury because of it
- Unemployment if they had a job at some point and were fired
While their children are at school, these parents’ responsibilities are minimal, and they often have large amounts of free time within any given week. Even disabled persons are almost never 100% disabled, and are capable of typing on a computer or answering a phone or other work that their disability wouldn’t hinder their ability to perform and that will ultimately give them a higher sense of pride.
Our communities are in desperate need of assistance in many areas, with our public schools needing the most. If the “Welfare” mothers and fathers receiving government assistance would be required to dedicate 7 hours each week to some form of community assistance, this would resolve to be 31,600,000 X 7 hours = 221,200,000 (221+ MILLION hours) additional work hours each week to improve our communities and schools. Such an effort would tremendously improve the quality of our educational system and many other areas of our communities, and would build a stronger America for future generations.
The creation of this would not only improve our communities, but would also create new jobs for those to manage the system. Let's make America the “Heaven” it was in the 1950’s. Sign this petition. It will be distributed by zip code to the proper local and/or state channels to enable it to be passed into law(s). The minimum required signatures for each area varies, so we need as many signatures as possible.
THE PETITION:
We, the undersigned, are tired of our schools and communities being in need. We are also tired of people who are unemployed but are able to work but are not contributing to the betterment of our communities and schools.
We have a solution:
Require any person who is:
- Over the age of 21 and
- Under the age of 60 and
- Receives government assistance and
- Works less than 32 hours a week at a job
-- for compensation or
-- volunteer for a non-profit organization or
-- an internship or
-- an apprenticeship
and
- Is not a student at an accredited school or college at least 7 class hours a week
for them to dedicate 7 hours each week to a community need, by performing some service that is needed and that benefits their community and for which they would not receive financial compensation.
