On day eight of his presidency, news broke that Donald Trump signed an executive order that effectively works as a ban on all Muslim people and refugees entering the United States without undue hardship.

The United States of America, a nation founded because of refugees fleeing religious persecution, is now taking steps to work against its own history. The "vetting" processes are discrimination against real human beings that come to America to make a better life both for themselves and their family. Operating on the basis that everyone from the seven countries targeted - Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia - is a terrorist is ignorant and not the behavior that the administration of the United States of America should be encouraging, endorsing, or committing.

This petition works to show that college students, staff, faculty, and those involved in  higher education all around this country do not approve of this executive order. We are standing with the people being discriminated against and doing everything in our power to make sure that they and their families are safe and sound in this dangerous political climate. We want Donald Trump to understand that his ideas not only move us backwards in progress of acceptance and peace, but also that living, breathing Americans are in danger because of this ban and the ideas that he is promoting.
