"We are complicit and actively involved with war in Yemen. There's been no debate in Congress, really no debate in the public sphere, over whether or not we should be at war in Yemen"
Last week, under Donald trump, the US State Department announced they will resume arms sales to Saudi Arabia that were frozen by the Obama Administration in its last months. The block was due to concerns over civilian casualties, and staggering numbers of missed and poor targeting.
The US has engaged in arm sales with KSA since 2011. Since 2015 alone the death toll in Yemen has risen to 10,000 leaving 40,000 Yemenis injured from air strikes and many more displaced.
We implore the US State Department, Donald Trump, and the US Senate to not resume arm sales to Saudi and Saudi led coalitions. The American people do NOT support the war and Yemen and by selling arms to Saudi, we are indirectly participating in war ourselves, daily air strikes that hit no rebels but rather displace and kill many Yemenis civilians. America is not at war with the Yemenis people.
