Dear Mr. President, Honorable Secretary of State, and US Commission on International Religious Freedom:

The persecution of Serbian Orthodox Christians continues and they are in need of your help.

The criminal dictatorship of the notorious Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic has oppressed the religious freedom of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro by passing a sacrilegious law that seizes religious property from an ancient Christian community and violates their human rights by imposing severe restrictions on their freedom to worship.

We ask that you impose sanctions on the criminal leadership of Milo Djukanovic and Dusko Markovic along with their corrupt associates in the Montenegrin government pursuant to International Religious Freedom Act, 22 U.S.C. §§ 6441-61.

One Montenegrin commentator has described Milo Djukanovic as "the last European dictator, [who] has captured our country for his own private interests and turned it into safe haven for criminals. While he, his family and friends enriched themselves, ordinary people suffer from poverty, injustice and lawlessness, while those who dare to talk about the corruption become his targets.” See the following article: https://www.occrp.org/en/poy/2015/

Since the passage of this corrupt law, Montenegrin police have perpetrated public acts of violence against religious leaders including his Grace Bishop Metodije of Diokleia of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Massive protests have erupted across Montenegro and Serbia with hundreds of thousands of Serbian Orthodox Christians peacefully assembling to take a stand for their inalienable religious beliefs and heritage.

Despite his injuries, his Grace Bishop Metodije of Diokleia called on the faithful to remain calm and peaceful. See the following article:  https://orthochristian.com/126810.html

Thank you for taking a stand on behalf of persecuted Christians worldwide.
