Dear Mr. President and Commissioner Pai, 

I am writing to you today to urge you to take immediate action on a dire situation in our country. We truly live in an information age where messaging can affect everything from the stock market to real life, life and death situations. It is paramount that we help our citizens understand that not all news delivered to them 24/7 is actually factual. In fact, the vast majority of "news" content is openly biased, full of conjecture, speculation, and is often agenda driven by entities who do not have the best interest of the citizen of our great country in mind. While we should never suppress any person or organization's right to free speech, it is necessary to have these news outlets openly and plainly declare their intent. 

We ask that you require all broadcast, cable and internet/streaming programs that consist of any of the elements listed below to run an announcement in the form of a crawl at all times during the program.

The suggested crawl should read:
This program is not a factually based news program. You are listening to speculation, opinion and conjecture. You should not assume that information on this program is true or completely accurate. The creators of this program may have political, economic and social agendas that could negatively affect you and your family. Personally evaluate any claims made by the individuals on this program before accepting them as accurate.

Who should have to run the announcements: 
1) Any broadcast, cable or web based program that goes beyond "BASIC NEWS FACTS."

2) Any broadcast, cable or web based program that includes any discussion of any past, present or future new events.

3) Any broadcast, cable or web based program that is primarily anchors or presenters discussing news events with each other or special expert guests.

4) Any broadcast, cable or web based program that is an anchor or presenter giving their opinion in any way on any story delivered during the program. 

5) Any news gathering organization that uses public airwaves or for cable and internet based organizations, any that use the public right of ways and utilities. 

6) Any and all news organizations not fully based and licensed in the United States and registered with the FCC. 

Thank you for your attention to this very important matter. 
This simple step will remind viewers to think for themselves and will force new organizations to be on their best behavior. It is a strong message to our country that information is power and they should not always trust what they hear on the "News."
