Healing Diseases (Cancer, AIDS, etc…)
In this hour of human history, humanity seems to be plagued with a multitude of sicknesses that can be categorized as diseases. We have aids, various forms of cancer, sickle cell, and various other plagues and diseases. I want to establish this fact early in this lesson, and that is each of these diseases are agents of sin and death. They work for them. Sin causes each one (disease)s, while death uses them to draw people to it. Yet in the face of these things God is a great God who is sovereign, even over sickness and disease.
The Definition Of Disease.
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition defines “disease” as a pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms.
So many people believe that diseases are some invisible foe that cannot be touched or dealt with. They are entities and not some idea that’s not tangible. It is imperative that you recognize when learning to heal diseases that they (diseases) are living entities. This is to let you know that you are fighting or coming against a legitimate thing and not something that has no bounds nor has any authority over it. Please grasp this thought about any entity, whether they are natural or spiritual, and that is, they are under God’s jurisdiction (territory) and authority (power). Every entity (including all diseases) must bow (submit) to the name of Jesus. Philippians 2:9-11 says;
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Isn’t it a blessing that you have been given the right to use the name of Jesus, affording you the opportunity to command authority over all diseases? They are not stronger than our God; neither can they be victorious over Him. It does not matter if it is the plague of our day, cancer or anything else. No matter how ominous the disease may sound or look, God is a healer! Don’t be afraid when you hear about disease or see it; rather keep your spiritual eyes on Jesus who bore or carried those diseases to the cross and crucified them there on your behalf, as well as on the behalf of those you will be ministering to.
There is not one disease that God can not heal. He heals all of our diseases. Some biblical diseases are:
Plagues (Mark 3:10)
Dropsy (Luke 14:1-4)
Leprosy (Matthew 8:1-4 and Luke 17:11-17)
Blood Diseases (Matthew 9:20-22)
Psalms 103:1-3 clearly tells us that God heals the aforementioned diseases, as well as all others, it reads;
“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”
Healing of all diseases is a benefit for the child of God. Not only is it our benefit, but we can also minister this benefit to others for their salvation. Yet there is a pertinent point in Psalms 103:3-4 that many overlook regarding the healing of diseases, and that is cleansing. Okay, before I get into this I better take a look at the root of disease (internal) in comparison to the root of sin (also internal). The root of disease is sin. Sin in the body (harboring certain sinful mindsets such as anger, bitterness, grief, anxiety, insolent attitudes towards authority, etc) or sinning (physical actions), causes disease to manifest in and against the body. Again sin can find a place in people, due to bottled up sinful emotions, that we should have cast down. Keep a merry heart, for it can be like a medicine. Proverbs 17:22 tells us of this fact, it reads;
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Sin The Doorway Of Disease.
Disease cannot operate without a legal basis. Disease uses a doorway of sin, whether it be personal sin, or sin that is in the family line. This is why we often see generational diseases appearing in each generation of certain families. That is to say that it passes from one generation to the next. In these cases the natural physician has identified this pattern, thus they often try to get people to take preventative measures to avoid this from happening. We too, who are spiritual physicians on Jesus Christ medical staff must help people take spiritual preventative measures to not just reduce, but stop the chances of a person developing generational diseases. The spiritual preventative measures in this case regarding generational diseases in a family is as follows:
1. Identification of what sins run in our family line (whether internal sins of the mind, or external sins of physical actions). This could be things such as unforgiveness, bitterness, etc…, regarding the internal and could be things like murder (including abortion), fornication, etc… regarding the external or physical actions. This can be done with yourself, as well as with those you will minister healing to. So do not be afraid to ask those you are ministering to, if there or patterns of unforgiveness, anger, strife, etc… in their family line.
2. Repentance for your own sins, as well as for those of previous family members (father, mother, grandparents, great grandparents, etc..) that may have opened a door for sickness and disease in your life or the lives of those you are ministering to. Be mindful to not continue those sinful thoughts and actions, yet if you do, repent quickly.
3. Fill yourself up with the Word of God. The Word of God is a spiritual medicine which if taken regularly in faith and righteousness can keep you from disease.
4. Praise God for the manifestation of His promises (you can declare the promises of healing in the Word of God as you praise God). This helps release your faith.
This brings me back to cleansing. Diseases must be spiritually cleansed. In the Gospel of Luke 17:12-15 we are told of the cleansing of the lepers that manifested healing, it reads;
“And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,”
We see here that Jesus cleansed the leper (leprosy is a disease). Why does the scripture not just say he healed the lepers; rather He cleansed them? What does this mean? To better understand this I must define for you the Greek word for cleanse. The Greek word for “cleanse” is “katharizo” (pronounced ka-tha-re-zo), meaning to make clean. In a moral sense from defilement of sin and from faults, to purify from wickedness, to free from guilt of sin, to purify, to consecrate by cleansing or purifying, to consecrate, dedicate. We see here that cleansing means a washing or removing of sin, thus we can deduce that sin has a direct connection to disease. Especially those internal sins that involve negative sinful emotions, whether displayed, hidden within or in a person’s family line. From this we see that Jesus cleansed these lepers of what was causing their sickness, sin. He forgave them causing internal cleansing, giving disease no grounds to operate on. I John 1:9 tells us that forgiveness cleanses us from all unrighteousness, it reads;
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
By seeing Jesus example we know that disease has to be cleansed. Cleansing from diseases requires atonement (the making of reparation for a sin or a mistake), which came through a sin offering. We see this in the case of leprosy regarding levitical law about leprosy in Leviticus 14:19-20, which reads;
“And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering:
And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.”
Again, the root of disease is sin and sin must be cleansed to manifest healing. It is the blood of Jesus (the Lamb of God) that cleanses us from sin today. You must declare this fact to those diseases today. These entities (diseases), although they may not have physical ears, yet they hear the authority that you speak in Jesus name, and they must obey when the righteous faith filled Christian tells them to leave. They are listening to the righteous Christian, yet they wait to see if your unwavering faith will be steadfast, thus released against them, causing them to leave. Know your rights and authority and tell them that you command them to leave in Jesus name. Call the disease out by name, or by what it is doing to the person and tell them to release them and go. This can be done after the person has repented of their sins and been cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
It’s Happening On The Inside.
Disease always symbolizes something that has permeated certain areas in our bodies, causing decay and further sickness. The Word of God (both the name of Jesus and the scriptures in the Holy Bible) applied in faith is truly the only surgical tool that can reach right where the disease is and eradicate it without any scarring or damage to the body. You must believe in the authority and power in your spiritual medical tools. The Word of God is health to your flesh. Proverbs 4:20-27says;
“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”
The Word of God works from the inside out, this is why it must be spoken to a person with diseases, as well as it should be meditated upon.
You must set up a spiritual treatment regimen for those who have diseases just like doctors would give from the physical standpoint. Yet yours may not include chemo therapy or other medications; rather periods of declaring the Word of God, reading the Word and praising God for the manifestation of His Word.
The Foundation Of Healing Diseases.
The foundation of healing diseases is righteousness. For the Christian it is Christ righteousness that affords us opportunity for healing, and for the unbeliever it is the Healing Anointing on the righteous (those in right standing with God) believer that can take authority over diseases and manifest healing. This is all for the purpose of bringing glory to God.
When Jesus died for us on Calvary’s cross He bore our sicknesses and diseases. He did this by taking on or baring our sins. Isaiah 53:3-5 tells us of this, it reads;
“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
From this we again see that our sins have a direct connection to human sickness and disease. Our sins had within it our diseases and sicknesses. So if Jesus forgave and cleansed us of our sins, then we, as well as others in Christ have been released from the prison of sickness and disease. Tell those who are being held in diseases prison cells that you have come to liberate them in Jesus name. Go set these captives free.
It does not matter if the disease is in late or early stages, healing is available. Healing is not predicated upon when, and what regarding the disease; rather who, God. Get it in your spirit, your God is more than enough. We must never believe that a disease although it has no known cure, is greater than our God. We must magnify (enlarge) in our minds God’s ability to heal us, over diseases ability to cause our depletion and eventual demise (death). To enlarge the Lord you must begin to think on Him, read His Word, praise Him and pray to Him regularly, so much so that you have little time to enlarge the things of fear.
Giant Disease Killing Faith.
To heal diseases you’re going to have to believe God. You cannot do it any other way. Disease is a giant and you must have faith to slay this giant. This giant called disease tries to defy the army of the Living God (of which you are), just like Goliath defied the physical army of the Living God in David’s day. I Samuel 17:10-11 says;
“And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.
When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.”
As with David you must realize that the battle is the Lords, and you must trust that He will use you to slay the giant called disease and secure the victory for God’s glory. This giant (disease) is trying to defy the healing that Christ Blood purchased for us. I Samuel 17:40-53 tells us how we must stand up against this giant called disease that often paralyzes others, yet we must not succumb to its threats, size and declarations of past victories, the scriptures says;
“And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands.
And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.”
Once you breakthrough and conquer the giant of disease in Jesus name, then the floodgates to healing disease will be opened, just like when David defeated Goliath, it gave the armies of Israel the confidence to then totally route the Philistine army.
You Already Have The Authority In Christ Jesus.
Jesus is our example for the healing of diseases, and He told us that the things that He did that we would do also (John 14:12-14). So it stands to reason that we should heal diseases. Matthew 4:23 tells us of what Jesus did, it reads;
“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”
2000 years ago Jesus gave His disciples authority to cure disease and that same authority is extended to the Christian today. Luke 9:1-2 says;
“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
You must realize that you already have it. You are a carrier. Get it in your spirit and mind that you are a carrier of disease healing power. When you walk into the hospital, the greatest ability for healing diseases walks in with you. You must know that you have it, just as Peter and John knew they had healing for the man at the gate called “Beautiful.” Acts 3:1-8 says;
“Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.”
You must now go and lay hands on the diseased. This is what the Apostle Paul did in Acts 28:8, which reads;
“And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.”
It is imperative that as you are ministering to those with disease that you give them the Word on healing (God’s promises in this area from the Bible), which will increase their level of faith to receive what you have (and you do have it) to give to them. Mark 16:17-18 says;
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Those who are diseased need a touch from the Master’s hand through you. Go and teach them and touch them with the healing power of God, for you have it to give.

It is important that as you read the names of these diseases that you realize that each of them was defeated when Jesus died on the cross at Calvary. So as you read them, after each one I want you to say “defeated by the blood of Jesus.” Remember, in Jesus name you have authority over each one.
