We needed 600 signatures this week and you all managed to gather the support of an additional 2800 signatures. This is exactly the momentum and dedication that we will need to demand real change and action take place on this issue.
With this in mind, we are moving on to the next stage of advocating that action be taken on funding this initiative. We are officially petitioning the White House and Congress to Fund the Family Case Management Program.
We need 100,000 Signatures in 30 Days, at which point our petition will reach the signature threshold and we will get an official update from the White House within 60 days. This is just 1 step we are taking as we continue to fight for the human rights and dignity of those seeking protection who are in custody at our borders, but it is an important step. It is our right to petition our Government to enact change when we do not see it serving to protect the rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness of those in our country. We have not yet determined that these families do not meet the legal status of refugees or asylum seekers, and they should have access to the basic resources of adequate food, running/clean water, and safe shelter until which time our systems hear their case.
Please take the time to Sign the Official Petition at We the People, and fight with us as we all call on our friends, families, and larger communities to join this cause and demand action for those who are being treated as less than human at the hands of our Government.
You are also welcome to join the facebook group for ease of contact and communication of ongoing advocacy efforts in relation to this cause, if that is how you utilize your social media and platforms.
