POLICE REFORM/ACCOUNTABILITY ACT

POLICE REFORM/ACCOUNTABILITY ACT
Why this petition matters

This country has a detrimental issue... Innocent lives taken from police, people sworn to protect and serve! I’m here making the petition to offer a possible solution or incentive for a change! Yes, we need justice for George Floyd, as well as the other innocent people who fell fatal victim to police brutality, but what’s going to further ELIMINATE this inhumane behavior from our police officers? I’m here to propose The George Floyd Act. A law that will hold police officers accountable for murders of any innocent, unarmed, petty crime offenders. We can not, nor will not, take any more senseless murders, regardless of the melanin in ones skin. Let alone, murders done by the people who swear to protect the people of the United States of America. The criminal justice system always tend to let police officers off with minimum charges and time. What happened to George Floyd is a perfect example of a police officer abusing his power and authority, and the fact that he blatantly disregarded Floyd’s cries for help, pleading his inability to breath and the arresting officer ignored is more than just gross negligence. That is premeditation of murder. No different than if you see someone drowning and decide not to help.. Look passed the badge. Look passed the uniform. Derek Chauvin is, just like every other police officer, a human. A human, with feelings and urges. Not all humanly decent.. Not all psychiatric screenings will defer whether a person has ill will or not, getting a career in the police department, if that’s even a true factor in the hiring process at all. We as the people, more specific the African American community who is four times more likely to be shot and killed while unarmed compared to a white individual who is unarmed, should not have to fear the police officers that protect Americans. We as the people, deserve to lay at rest knowing the person who took our life is serving for their crime, whether they have badges or not. We as the people, deserve for our family members, friends, and loved ones to be laid to rest while the officer who took their life is serving time for their crime. We as the people, deserve the right to feel safe with ALL police officers. With this act, it will give more motive for police officers to take seriousness in their training to know that if they take a life, they lose theirs just like a civilian. Murder doesn’t have to happen. The fact they can easily detain a mass shooter who is armed and dangerous to convict, but live! Yet, felt the need to have George Floyd hand cuffed and helpless till he fell limp and died is the cruel example of poorly trained malice! Not only for Chauvin, but all of the participating officers as well. Let’s not let yet another innocent life go to vain! Let’s reach for a resolution to END this madness and convict these police officers as civilians! For we all know had George Floyd got into a fight in a bar and restrained the way he was, begging for the help the way he was, but the man doing it was an average civilian- he would be convicted of absolutely no less than second degree murder. Please just sign this petition and hope it can go some where and start a change!
