Maintain Logging and Mining Restrictions for Tongass National Forest in Alaska

Here in recent days, President Trump has been considering lifting the logging restrictions on Tongass National Forest in Alaska. The Tongass spans nearly 17 million acres, and its wilderness of old-growth cedar, spruce and hemlock trees makes up the world's largest temperate rainforest. It is home to a huge population of wildlife and logging this region would have devastating effects to the local ecosystem as well as global climate.

President Trump is mulling this decision over literally while the Amazon is burning. We are in a state of global climate crisis. Decimating our natural resources in this manner will have disastrous consequences in the immediate future as well as later for our children and grandchildren; all for corporate profits and to fuel the local logging, mining, and energy industries. Let’s be clear: if there is no more earth to live on, there will definitely be no more corporations or industry, period. We have to preserve these lands.

Please do the right thing and help me stop this.
