We're failing our children.

It is our duty as Americans, and as human beings to protect our youth. Yet so many children are dying due to abuse and neglect. These kids are living in terrible conditions with abusive parents, yet no one is there to rescue them. We have to do better.

I'm calling on you to help these children. I'm calling on YOU to instate "Mikel's Law" Mikel is a 2 year old boy out of Pennsylvania who is laying in a hospital bed waiting to donate his organs. He was beaten and sexually assaulted by his mothers boyfriend. Multiple contacts were made to child services prior to the assault which has ultimately left him brain dead. Mikel's law would require child service's to employ a nurse, or partner with local health care providers so that a nurse or doctor joins the social worker on welfare checks. This would allow them to check the child for signs of physical or sexual abuse as well as neglect. To many children die because our child services departments are overworked, understaffed, or they just overlook key factors of abuse and the children are left with their parents. I'd also like to make sure they're forced to wear body cameras whenever they're making these checks. This way they're held accountable if the child ends up suffering more abuse and there were signs at the visit, that if noticed could have saved a life.

We have to do better, the children of the United States deserve better. I'm challenging you to back this petition. To help these children who can't help themselves. Be their voice when they don't have one.
