Puppy mills keep dogs in small cages and force them to breed usually inserting dangerous chemicals in them to artificially breed puppy's. The dogs are generally in really bad conditions and the puppy's are normally sick. They sell these puppy's at pet stores such as petland, puppy avenue,and puppy's golore and more. When the breeders are done with the dogs they kill or harm them. Puppy mills should be shutdown. This is animal cruelty and abuse. Animals have feelings too. The dogs are kept in these conditions for there whole life's, which is not usually very long due to medical conditions that do not get treated because they normally only go to the vet once in there life. The ASPCA describes puppy mills as "a large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs".Another definition by Avenson v. Zegart in 1984 is "a dog breeding operation in which the health of the dogs is disregarded in order to maintain a low overhead and maximize profits".The dogs are not loved and cared for, the puppy's often leave there moms to early. Puppy mills are inhumane and should be shutdown. I am Maezie Waters a 6th grader in jacksonville FL and I love animals and believe that puppy mills are evil and should be gone. There is an estimated 10,000 puppy mills in the USA. I am working with my friend Sierra to make puppy mills illegal. Please take into consideration this law because puppy mills are in horrible condition to house these animals.
