Congress to condemn inaction to save the Amazon

The Issue

The Amazon rainforest is the largest single resource to filter Carbon Dioxide in the world. It is burning at a prolific rate and the limited to nonexistent action being taken by the governing bodies whose responsibility it is to address such a serious problem is both disturbing and shortsighted.

The continued loss of the amazon affects us all and the consequences are too severe to put off. It filters approximately 20% of the world's oxygen, so every 5% of the Amazon lost is roughly 1% of the world oxygen. This is no longer a negligible difference accumulating over years, these are whole percentage points lost over the course of days.

No one can ask a stranger to fly to a faraway land and fight a natural disaster, but a stance can be had a voices must come together to do so. This is an issue which cannot be ignored if simply because each breathe we take must remind us
