As of this writing, Bolivia has undergone a far-right military coup, ousting the popular democratically elected president Evo Morales from his rightful place as president. His third term, one that the results of were uncontested, was set to expire in January of 2020, making his ouster now clearly a coup. 

Under supposed allegations of voter fraud, the OAS, which is an explicitly pro-US organization, issued a report detailing that there was election manipulation by the part of the Morales government. However, an independent report, issued by the CEPR, states that there was no electoral fraud. Nevertheless, after protests, Morales called for another election. That still didn't satisfy the opposition, though. Marked by violence and intimidation, the right-wing opposition, aligned with the military, forced Morales to resign and flee to Mexico for his safety, effectively cementing the coup. After multiple officials ahead of the opposition in the line of succession "resigned," a new "President" was sworn in, violating the constitution, and with her party only receiving 4% of the vote in the last election. Furthermore, this current "President" of Bolivia has made deeply anti-indigenous comments in the past, even though the majority of Bolivia's population is indigenous, as well as the opposition desecrating the indigenous peoples' flag. This all occurred less than one week after Morales said he would nationalize Bolivia's large lithium resources.

The United States government has issued a communique praising what is this military coup. This petition calls upon the United States government and its executive branch to retract their previous statement and denounce this military coup that has already left eight dead, after Bolivia's government said it would grant the military and police impunity for using lethal force on the mounting pro-Morales protesters.
