Time is running out......can you help just a little more please?
Oct 28, 2015 — Next week Pancreatic Cancer patients in England will be in a worse position in terms of treatment options than similar patients in Scotland, Wales and most of the rest of Europe because they will be denied life extending drug Abraxane. Imagine pancreatic cancer patients knowing that their time is limited, that there is a drug available which may extend their life but because they live in England they cannot have access to it after its removal from the Cancer Drugs Fund List on 4 November.
Carl is a pancreatic cancer patient based in England who could need Abraxane at some future point. I believe Abraxane represents progress and HOPE for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. Carl has kindly agreed to share his story in the attached video. He is incredibly positive despite the fact that he was handed a cruel blow with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis at just 38 years of age. If you know about pancreatic cancer, you will know that not a lot of hope comes with this diagnosis. Carl was lucky - his cancer was at an operable stage so, for a short while, Carl was given hope. Hope that his cancer was dealt with, that life could get back to normal and he could continue on his planned track. Sadly Carl has just found out that the cancer is back and he needs hope more than ever now. In the video Carl tells you why Abraxane is so important to him and many others like him. The removal of Abraxane is taking away hope from pancreatic cancer patients just because of where they live – if they were in this position in Scotland, Wales or most of the rest of Europe, Abraxane would be available as an option and may give them hope of a longer life.
Time is running out - we are almost at 91k signatures and your incredible input has made this campaign grow significantly in a short space of time but, to keep the pressure on, we need many more names to be added. I’m appealing to you to please encourage friends and family (even the person sitting next to you right now!) to add their names and share this campaign so that we can smash 100k+ signatures! For Carl should he need it in the future, and for so many others that will be affected, Abraxane must stay available as a treatment option. Pancreatic cancer knows no boundaries – it can affect anyone at any time - this really is important to everyone. Please share this update and Carl’s story and if you would like to keep up to date with Carl’s progress you can read his blog here http://carldenning.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/the-biology-of-belief.html
