So last week saw the final sitting day of the Parliament for 2014.
We certainly put some thoughts into a lot of members minds from all sides of the political spectrum during the visit to Canberra last week.
The Parliamentarians will not return to Canberra until early February 2015.
But that does not mean we are stopping.
Following the way we were dismissed by the Government in Canberra last week, we need to keep up and redouble the effort on getting more signatures.
We still have a target for 250,000 now to present to Mr. Abbott and whoever may be the Defence Minister in 2015.
I am sure the other parties will continue to support us. (The link to this petition is now on multiple political party websites as well as individual politicians websites/FaceBook pages)
This journey still has a way to go before we get the Government to change the pay offer, or until they are voted out of Government. But we will win this battle eventually.
As I have said repeatedly, we will not desert our ADF, we are in this for as long as it takes.
Again I would like to thank every one of the 62,500 people who have stepped up and signed the petition to date. We are making a difference and this effort will carry a legacy into the future as every future Government will know and understand to not use the ADF as a political football, and to treat our Diggers fairly. If they choose to ignore this lesson then we will hold them to account irrespective of which ever party it is.
So continue to keep up the anger, keep up your enthusiasm and motivation.
Keep this issue in the forefront of conversations when you can. Tell people what we are doing and how we have already made history by being the first petition to be accepted by the major political parties. share, share and re-share the petition link.
As Christmas approaches, share a thought for all the ADF members who have returned from deployment as broken people. They do not receive anywhere near the support they deserve from the government, so please if you know of some one doing it tough, take the time to thank them for what they have done for us and let them know that they are not alone and that we do and will continue to support them. I am sure it will make a difference to them.
Tony
