As avid users of your platform, we are writing this petition to strongly urge you to reconsider your decision to remove the discriminator from usernames. We understand that you are planning to replace the current system with Display Names, but we believe that this change will cause more harm than good.

Discriminators are a vital part of Discord's identity system, and removing them would lead to confusion, difficulty in remembering unique usernames, and challenges in adding friends, finding users, and differentiating between similar usernames. Discord has always been a place where users can express themselves with unique usernames, and removing discriminators would make it difficult for users to maintain their identity and establish meaningful connections with others.

While we appreciate your efforts to improve the user experience, we believe that removing discriminators is not the solution. Instead, we propose that you consider other alternatives that would enhance the user experience without eliminating discriminators. For example, improving the loading time of profile information and search functionality, allowing users to search for usernames with or without the discriminator, or giving users the option to create an additional unique identifier.

We believe that removing discriminators would take away an essential part of what makes Discord unique and user-friendly. We are concerned that this change would negatively impact the user experience and would make it harder for users to connect with others on the platform.

We urge you to take our feedback and concerns into account and reconsider your decision to remove discriminators. We believe that this small but crucial feature is an integral part of Discord's identity system and should remain as part of the username system.
