Dear Quieter Yonkers Supporter: 

Our petition gained fast support, and we now have 332 signers. I'm hoping we can get a new spurt of enthusiasm and push this thing past 400. We're already getting the attention of the City Council, but a bit of action on the petition front will certainly help.  Please send out to your contacts -- anyone who doesn't want to listen to 85 decibels all day long will want to sign (that's the sound of a jackhammer about 50 feet away).  It's interesting how this campaign has also revealed a good bit about how Yonkers is governed.  The answer is not well.  We've discovered that the City Council never actually voted for this terrible noise ordinance, even though it was somehow mysteriously put into the official city code (the ecode that online).  So it's very likely that the end game of all this will be a nullification of the ordinance.  To read all about it, see our blog: Please explain: ordinance change with no vote, ordinance that contradicts itself?
