Don't approve permit to import slaughtered black rhinos

Don't approve permit to import slaughtered black rhinos
The Issue
The Dallas Safari Club auctioned off a chance to slaughter a black rhino in Africa, but will have to cancel the hunting trip if the permit to import dead rhino carcasses is denied. That means we can save an animal's life if we act by the close of the December 8 public comment period. Please sign my petition asking the United States Fish & Wildlife Service to deny all permits to import endangered black rhinos!
Black rhinos are an endangered species. There are less than 5,000 left on the planet so I started this petition to help save them from trophy hunters and poachers. In this case, the "winner" of the auction has a history of slaughtering more than 100 species of wildlife including an elephant, lion, and leopard. And he works for a private hunting company that provides trips to billionaires to travel abroad and kill animals and has been caught up in legal issues before for illegal hunting.
It made me sick to read that this guy wants to go to Africa to kill this endangered species as a way to "be intimately involved with a black rhino." This is like Noah's Ark in reverse.
The US Fish & Wildlife Service has a comment period open until December 8 and they have been hearing from many experts, but I started this petition because I want to show how much the general public is concerned that this selfish act will take an endangered animal's life. Please take one minute to sign this petition and share with everyone you know. This rhino hunt will not happen if there is no permit granted to import the carcass!
This is not about one auction winner or even one organization. It's about standing up for endangered animals who have no voice and are facing extinction due to poaching and trophy hunting threats.
As a spokesperson for the International Fund for Animal Welfare said: "If black rhinos and other dwindling species are to have a future, people must be encouraged to value animals for their inherent worth alive, not their price tag when they are dead."
We should be able to trust the federal Fish & Wildlife Service to be on the side of animals, not big money hunters looking to kill and mount slaughtered wildlife. Tell the US Fish & Wildlife Service to ban imports of black rhinos by these trophy hunters.
Thank you for your support.
