At last night's Belper Town council meeting, Belper Independents leader Cllr Ben Bellamy moved a proposal that the Town Council take legal advice on the merits of a Judicial Review of the legality in process of the decisions around the County Council proposals to close or sell off our care home, and that an emergency meeting be called on reciept of that advice to consider next steps.
If the legal advice is that the case has good chance of success, we may need to hold a crowdfunder to pay for action, which could cost upto £50,000. But first we need the advice.
The proposal was thankfully carried - however:
-All but one Labour councillor present voted AGAINST paying for the advice-
This is extremely disappointing, as previously the Town Council appears to have been unanimous in leaving no stone unturned in our attempts to save Ada Belfield. This can no longer be considered the case.
