I know you heard from me yesterday, but I am hitting your inbox again tonight because the countdown is officially on, and every single day matters now.
We are sitting on an incredible 3,800 signatures on our community petition, which proves how much we love our neighbourhood.
‼️If only 10% of the people who have signed this petition write an objection to this expansion we will be IMPOSSIBLE to ignore
‼️We MUST back these petition signatures up on the official council planning portal.
🗓️ The Richmond Council planning page closes for good in exactly 7 days, on Thursday, 27th August.
If you have signed the petition but haven't left a brief comment to object to the expansion and 15 concerts every year (forever!) on the council's page yet, please take 3 minutes and do it right now.
The stadium wants the council to think we don't care about our streets.
🌊 We need a massive wave of fresh objections hitting the portal tonight to prove them wrong.
To make it incredibly simple for you, here are the Top 10 reasons our community is fighting this expansion. Just pick two or three that matter to your household and type them onto the council page in your own words tonight:
1. Toxic air and idling cars : Traffic gridlock leaves thousands of car engines idling right outside our front doors. Neighbours are forced to seal their windows shut on hot summer nights just to avoid breathing in toxic exhaust fumes.
2. Lost sleep for our kids: 15 massive music festivals mean loud stadium sound-checks, heavy bass thumping, and shouting crowds finishing late, shattering the peace of our homes and ruining the sleep of local children.
3. Ambulances blocked in gridlock: Total road paralysis means that emergency vehicles and ambulances will struggle to get through the traffic locks to reach local families or get to West Middlesex Hospital when every second counts.
4. Trapped in our own roads: Constant event-day road closures lock us out of our own streets, making it a struggle just to go to the local shops, see family, or receive standard online deliveries.
5. Dangerous, narrow pavements: Our local pavements are far too narrow for a 75,000-person crowd surge. Pedestrians spill right off the kerb into live traffic, creating a massive safety risk.
6. Late-night anti-social behaviour: Having thousands of drinking fans pouring onto our streets past 10:30 PM leads to loud shouting, littering, and people using our front gates, fences, and walls as public toilets.
7. Overcrowded and delayed trains: Dumping 75,000 music fans onto our small single-line railway network completely overwhelms the service, causing severe transport delays and packed platforms for ordinary passengers.
8. Damage to our gardens and property: The sheer volume of foot traffic causes direct damage, with people smashing front fences, tramping through hedges, and dropping rubbish in our gardens.
9. Ruining our local high street: The traffic lockdowns and massive crowds actively scare away regular local customers, hurting our independent shops, vets, and local businesses when they need us most.
10. Our area is completely full: Our neighbourhood, our roads, and our transport links have hit their absolute physical limit. We simply cannot take a 400% increase in stadium events.
